If you have a metal surface that needs to be cleaned of rust or unwanted pain, you can use sandblasting to get the job finished quickly. Sandblasting is an effective way to do surface cleaning and surface preparation. While sandblasting process, sandblasters are needed. There are three different types of sandblasters for people to choose from according to their needs.

Pressure Blaster

Pressure blasters use pressurized vessel filled with blast media and the force go through blast nozzles. Pressure blasters have stronger force than siphon sandblasters. Abrasive media under a higher force have more impact on the target surface and allow people to finish work faster. Due to its high pressure and strong force, a pressure blaster is more effective to strip stubborn surface contaminants like powder coating, liquid paints, and others that are hard to clean. One of the disadvantages of the pressure blaster is that the price is much higher than the siphon sandblaster. Moreover, the blast machine for the pressure blaster is likely to wear out quicker than the siphon sandblaster due to wear and tear with greater force.

Siphon Sandblaster

Siphon sandblasters operate slightly differently than pressure blasters. A siphon sandblaster uses a suction gun to pull blast media through a hose, and then deliver it to the blast nozzle. A siphon blaster is more suitable for small areas and easy jobs because it leaves a less pronounced anchor pattern. The good thing about siphon sandblasters is it requires a lower cost than pressure blasters. They need less equipment than pressure blasters, and other replacement parts like blast nozzle will not wear out too quickly under lower pressure.

Final thoughts:

If you are in a hurry and cannot get the job done in a timely manner or it seems impossible to remove the surface contaminant at all. You should choose a pressure blaster for the job. For small touch-up blast work, choosing a pressure blaster is kinda waste of money. A siphon sandblaster would fulfill your requirement for light production jobs.
